4 Ways To Celebrate Your Business More

Is it just me or does it feel like everywhere you look at the moment we’re consumed with more and more messages telling us to make our business bigger, better, faster, stronger?

As small business owners we’re constantly being told to ‘Grow your business to 6 or 7 figures in 3 steps’ or ‘How To Triple Your Instagram Following With This One Hack.’

Don’t get me wrong, I write these articles too and understand there is a place for them, but if we are constantly surrounded by this content, and what point do we start to enjoy the business we actually have and celebrate it?

During my free 1:1 Discovery Calls, I hear women confiding in me that they only made a small amount of money last month and need to double it quickly. Or – my personal favourite – they’ve ‘only’ been open for a few months and still can’t leave their corporate job. The question is, “What are they doing wrong?”

News flash Ladies, I’m also still working part-time while building my business. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that! I love the fact that I don’t have ridiculous pressure on me to make it any bigger than it needs to be right away while my boys are still young and I’m rebuilding a house after being flooded earlier this year.

I genuinely believe there is a time and a place for everything in life and it doesn’t all have to be confined to right now.

If you approach business with desperation, then that’s the energy you’re not only filling your new empire, but the vibe your potential customers will feel from you too. You’ll start coming at them like a Vampire… “I vaaaant to suck youuuur blood!”

So if you feel yourself getting anxious that you’re not where you want to be yet, or starting to question your abilities because you’re business isn’t “like hers” than here are my 4 tips to embrace the business you have right now and genuinely enjoy it – just as it is.

  1. What’s Working Well?

Ok, so maybe your grand vision is still a few years off. Look around and take a mental note of all the things that are working well for you and your business right now. Perhaps you just signed a new client, achieved a new goal, or are able to reduce your hours at work from full-time to part-time? I want you to think of at least 3 things that are going well and genuinely feel the appreciation and love that comes from knowing that YOU made this happen!

If I was your Coach, the fact that you took the plunge to start your own business – when millions of others never even get that far – is something pretty special I’d want you to celebrate too.

2. Let Go Of All The Pressure

Tony Robbins says, “People overestimate what they can achieve in a year, and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade.”

Are you keeping yourself stuck and overwhelmed because your goals aren’t manifesting as fast as you want them too? I don’t know what your goals are, but the women I work with come to be looking for help to achieve goals that I know have taken other women at least 5 years!

For example, Marie Forleo, of BSchool and MarieTV, has said she was working several jobs for 7 years before she was ready to go full-time in her own business.

Rethink the timeframes around your goals and let go of the pressure you’re putting yourself under. Despite your desire to change the world, it doesn’t need to happen overnight. Nothing sustainable can be produced on steroids!

3. Decide You Are Enough

You know that female entrepreneur you’re following on Instagram? She’s NOT you!

You know that woman you admire at the business networking functions? She’s NOT you!

I vividly remember meeting a female life coach I’d long admired at a function and discovering she was NOTHING like her online persona. I walked away really disappointed because I’d built her up to be this powerhouse woman in my head. It was the exact moment that made me realise, ‘I am enough and am just as good as these women.’

You are enough too, just as you are.

4. Now Is The Only Moment That Counts

Earlier this year my family’s house was washed away in the torrential flood that ravaged North Queensland. After raining over Townsville for 3 weeks straight, the city had to release water from the Dam and the water that filled our streets was pushed directly in to our house (after travelling for approximately 90 minutes to reach us – that’s how much water there was!)

I’ll never forget it! I had been so caught up in my business the days leading in to the flood, that I couldn’t fully embrace the moment and concentrate on the magnitude of the event surrounding us. Naive? Absolutely!

The point is, this is the only moment you’re promised. Your life, and in turn your business, is happening right now, so please stop focusing on the future so much that you miss it.

Embrace where you are right now, let go of excuses and the blame game and say out loud, “Everything is exactly where it needs to be and this is my best life.”

Leave me a comment and tell me a way you could celebrate your business right now and embrace the messy magic you’re in?
